Topics that will be covered at the meeting include: • Economic benefits of dark skies for businesses, municipali - ties and individuals. • Research and studies related to light pollution and night - time conservation. • Ways to increase public awareness about light pollution and how successful the campaigns have been. • How to support, write and maintain public policies that protect the nighttime environment. • The technologies being used to preserve dark skies. • Inspiration from dark skies: Stories that will continue to in - spire the community to stand up for natural environments. IDA members and supporters will have the opportuni - ty to network with other chapters and support the mission of the association. Submissions Open for Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute's "Hardscape North America" Awards The 2018 HNA Awards online submissions system is open. Entries will be accepted through Wednesday, September 5. The HNA Awards recognize residential and commercial hardscape projects including walkways, patios, driveways, commercial plazas, parking lots, streets and more. In all there are 18 hard - scape categories. The judging criteria are design, the quality of construction and craftsmanship, the compatibility of materials, innovation and overall excellence. Projects in the U.S. and Canada are eligible for the competition. Award winners will be recog - nized during the 2018 Hardscape North America trade show at the HNA Awards in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 18. https://hna.secure-platform.com/a/organizations/main/home
