52 LC DBM I n f o r m a t i o n R e q u e s t # 4 5 2 State Association Joins NALP to Promote Job Opportunities Irrigation Certification Available Online The Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado is the first state association to partner with the National Associa - tion of Landscape Professionals on their Industry Growth Initiative. This initiative supports various programs - advertis - ing campaigns, media relation efforts, marketing and social media outreach – to raise public awareness of opportunities in the industry and to encourage business owners to invest in outdoor spaces. To get your state association involved: In order to allow more flexible testing times so that con- tractors have increased opportunities to learn and improve professional standing, the Irrigation Association will now offer, as an alternative to in-person testing, an online certifi - cation course at select testing centers in North America. A certificate from the IA is highly encouraged for professionals specializing in turf and landscape irrigation. In conjunction with OSHA, the National Association of Landscape Professionals introduced a 10-hour construc - tion safety course, which for the first time will be tailored to address safety topics related specifically to the landscape industry. Also covered will be workers' rights, employer responsibilities and complaint filing. Courses are open to everyone in the landscape industry and cost $199 for NALP members and $299 for non-members.
