36 LC DBM Not surprisingly, the homeowner loved it. The residence is located on a busy street in a prominent neighborhood and the very visible and striking results have led to more work for Cre- ative Nightscapes from other clients. As Cheatham declares, "The system works." For Creative Nightscapes, that system includes choosing the products for all the customers and relying on the same manu- facturer. "Every now and then I use a variety of products (from other manufacturers) but it's rare," Cheatham states. He also admits that being in the right market is key to an effective business plan. "We're very fortunate that we live in an area like this where there's a lot of growth and a lot of really beautiful homes to light," says Cheatham. Creative Nightscape's fortunes rest on their continued atten- tion to specializing in eye-catching designs and installations. Top: To install lights in the existing water features, Creative Nightscape had to bore into the concrete to run the wires, which were also tucked under the overhangs of the cascades where possible. It took trial and error to make sure each of the 129 water accent lights and every connection was watertight. Bottom: For the wall lights, the crew dug down along the back of the wall with trenching shovels. Mortar drill bits were then used to create below-grade access into the wall to run the wire. The wall light here is a Half Moon model. 4.5 LED lights with special mounting brackets were used on all the arbors. The wiring for those lights was installed on top of the arbors. Llena path lights help illuminate these walkways. DBM LC I n f o r m a t i o n R e q u e s t # 5 4 4 034-037.indd 36 3/28/14 8:55 AM
