26 LC DBM 2018 Association Wrap-Up Left At the association's June Annual Meeting, the OPEI Board of Directors installed its 2018-2019 leader- ship. The board said goodbye to outgoing chairman Dan Ariens, chairman and CEO, Ariens Company, and welcomed incoming chairman Tom Cromwell, group president, Kohler Power, Kohler Company. Cohen, Tim Dorsey, Tom Duncan, Peter Hampton, Tim Merrett, Lee Sowell, Todd Teske, Mark Wagner, Joe Wright Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (continued) Left & Above Several rescue dogs were adopted at MUTT MADNESS, a Turf Mutt Pet Adoption Event, at the annual GIE+EXPO. Held in partnership with the Kentucky Hu- mane Society, the event offered an opportunity for rescue dogs to find their forever homes from among the show attendees. OPEI's environmen- tal education platform, TurfMutt, donated a $10,000 check to the KHS during the event to support their work in animal rehabilitation, rescue and adoption. The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) was established in 1911 as a professional society for the individual with the purpose of education and professional advancement. The majority of PGMS members are institutional grounds managers who work for organizations such as colleges and universities, municipalities, park and recreation facilities, of - fice parks, apartment complexes, hotels/motels, cemeteries, theme parks and landscape management companies. Left & Above The PGMS School of Grounds Manage- ment (SGM) Summer Con- ference was held August 6-7 in Grand Rapids, Mich. The event featured interac- tive programs focused on education. The Summer Conference included semi- nars on must-know topics as well as behind-the-scenes tours of area grounds man- agement programs. Left The SGM Annual Conference took place on Oct 16- 19 in Louisville, Ky. SGM is designed to provide grounds managers with the hard-to-find opportunity to gain knowledge, ask questions and network with their peers. Overall, the conference included fourteen Education Sessions, three dynamic breakfasts, an Annual Awards Dinner, a Pre-Conference Field Trip to Bernheim Arboretum and access to the GIE+EXPO. Left The 2018 GIE+EXPO marked the ninth consecutive year of the trade show's growth and was the largest ever. At the annual outdoor liv- ing and equipment expo, co-located with Hard- scape North America, more than 24,700 people from around the world attended, representing a 3% increase over 2017. And, with 1,000 exhibits, the indoor show floor and Outdoor Demonstration Area were larger than ever. OPEI is the managing partner of the GIE+EXPO.
