Can't Find Your Association? 20 LC DBM NATIONAL AEM was formed from the consolidation of the Construc- tion Industry Manufacturers Association and Equipment Manufacturers Institute on January 1, 2002. It is the inter - national trade and business development resource for com- panies that manufacture equipment, products and services used worldwide in the construction, agricultural, mining, forestry and utility fields. Association of Equipment Manufacturers 2018 Association Wrap-Up LC/DBM is proud to recognize some of the people and events that impacted green industry associations, on the national and state levels, in 2018. Left AEM's Steve Suhm and Sara Trues- dale Mooney accepted multiple awards for CONEXPO-CON/AGG and ICUEE-The Demo Expo at the Gold 100 recognition ceremony. AEM's CONEXPO-CON/AGG construction industries exhibition was named the number-one trade show of any industry in the United States, and ICUEE- The Demo Expo took the number-three spot in the annual Gold 100 list of top U.S. shows by exhibit space size. AEM won best-in-class Gold 100 awards for effective use of data analysis, marketing outreach and education programs, and during the year also won fast-growth exhibi- tion industry awards for the two shows. Above AEM celebrated surpassing the 1,000-member mark in 2018, with member companies and the leadership of volunteer executives helping AEM build a strong equip- ment manufacturing 'voice' for agriculture and construction industry interests. Initiatives included Thinking Forward educational events to identify and explore new and emerging technologies and industry trends. Above The association's grassroots advocacy campaign "I Make Amer- ica," launched a Town Hall Tour at several member facilities (and live- streamed) to educate and engage the men and women of the equipment manufacturing industry on key policies affecting the industry's future. Along with the Town Hall Tour events, AEM ran a two-week public af- fairs campaign designed to reenergize the debate around rebuilding our nation's infrastructure. The initiative also conducted dozens of facility tours across the U.S. to bring elected officials to manufacturing facili- ties to engage with workers. Left Mike Lietke is the new senior director, statistics. He comes to AEM from Briggs & Stratton in dealer de- velopment and field training and 12 years with Harley Davidson, serving in dealer district management and market and financial analyst positions. Left Megan Tanel, senior vice president, exhibitions and events for AEM, has earned Industry Icon honors from the Trade Show News Net- work. Tanel is responsible for overseeing AEM trade shows and show partnerships, U.S. and globally, and event education/meeting programs. Her 20 years-plus career with AEM includes show director of the Association's CONEXPO-CON/ AGG, ICUEE-The Demo Expo and World of Asphalt exhibitions. She is also a member of AEM's senior leadership team, a past chair of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events and has served on its board of directors since 2010.
