November 2018 9 FNGLA 2019 Landscape Awards Open for Submissions Upcoming Oklahoma Water Conference Pittsburgh Tree Care Training Event The Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association has begun accepting submissions for its 2019 Landscape Awards program. According to FNGLA's website, the program has been enhanced since last year, and now includes an all-new Land - scape Irrigation award. FNGLA members and nonmembers alike are encouraged to submit to the program. The deadline to enter the awards program is March 31, 2019. Tree Pittsburgh is hosting a Tree Tenders training course on December 1. The course will address urban forestry practices, tree biology and health, basic tree identification and proper mainte - nance techniques. There will also be a section that includes tips on effective ways to lead communities in organizing tree-planting events. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until 4:30 p.m. The session costs $40, which covers registration, materi - als, instruction and lunch. https://tinyurl.com/yachsdbg The 39th an- nual Oklahoma Governor's Water Conference & Research Symposium will be held December 5-6 at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City, Okla. This year's conference theme will be Connections. The conference is a partnership be - tween the Oklahoma Water Resources Board and the Oklahoma Water Resourc - es Center. The event brings together experts in the water field to share data from the past year. In addition to presentations, a cere - mony will be held to recognize the 2018 Oklahoma Water Pioneer Award win - ners.
