November 2018 35 TNLA Joins Stock Show to Award Scholarships Ecological Landscape Alliance to Host Conference I n f o r m a t i o n R e q u e s t # 4 0 5 Texas Nursery and Landscape Associa- tion has partnered with the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo to award scholarships to landscape students. The Landscape Challenge and the Landscape Skillathon are programs that will allow students to showcase their skills. During Landscape Challenge, students must design small landscaping plots that will undergo judging before being displayed during the Show. The Landscape Skillathon includes a written exam, identification stations and skill tests on subjects relating to land - scape design. The two programs will award up to $22,000 in scholarships. The submission deadline for both programs is December 15. The Ecological Landscape Alliance (ELA) will hold its Ecological Plant Conference on December 7 at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, N.Y. The event will feature presentations from five speakers on the cultivation, propagation, behavior and ecological function of specific plant species. The conference allows landscape professionals to explore the maintenance of the plants local to the Northeast. Continuing Education Units have been granted for this program by APLD, ISA, LA CES, NOFA AOLCP and NYSNLA. Tickets for ELA members are $119, and nonmembers can purchase tickets for $139.
