October 2018 77 The Indiana Nursery and Landscape Association's Annual Awards program is open for entry. All active INLA members are eligible to enter. The competition is a way for the association to recognize "firms that have enhanced the Indiana environment with creativity and beauty through landscaping and horticulture." The submission deadline is December 1, and the entry fee is $75. INLA members are also encouraged to nominate firms or individuals for the three Special Achievement awards: Nurs - ery & Landscape Achievement Award, Award of Merit and Employee of the Year. The Southern Nursery Association (SNA) recently announced that the proceedings of the 62nd Annual SNA Re - search Conference, which was held Janu- ary 10-12 in Baltimore, Ma., has been compiled and is now available online at This 110-page proceed - ings, provided free to the industry, is downloadable, searchable and printable. The 2018 proceedings includes ten sections of the latest horticultural re- search on Entomology, Field Production, Floriculture, Water Management and more. 65 authors presented titles from nine states, as well as Mexico. Images taken at night from space can easily identify major Ohio cities such as Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toledo and more. The chapter has been established to correct some of the harmful effects of light pollution in the state. For instance, Dayton officials recently enacted outdoor lighting codes. Bob Gent, a past president of IDA, is the newly elected president of IDA Ohio.
