76 LCDBM The National Association of Landscape Professionals has announced that the Landscape Industry Certified Technician- Exterior exam will only be offered online starting January 1, 2019. The certification is for exterior technicians seeking to specialize in four areas: hardscape installation, softscape installation, turf maintenance and orna - mental maintenance or irrigation. The platform will still test the same skills and knowledge. Those who are currently studying for the test should contact their state associations and complete the testing by December 31. In collaboration, the National Associa- tion of Landscape Professionals and the Occupational Safety and Health Adminis- tration are offering a 10-Hour Construc- tion Course. The sessions are taught by authorized trainers who provide princi- pals and field employees with knowledge on recognizing and preventing workplace hazards, along with information on "workers' rights, employer responsibili- ties, and filing a complaint." You can also host a course at your facility. At the com- pletion of the course, you will receive 10 CEU credits and a certificate. Starting November 6, there will be a two-day Certified Treecare Safety Professional Advanced Safety/Behavioral workshop and certification exam held at the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina. For TCIA members, the cost after the early bird deadline is $405 and for nonmembers, $540. Continuing education units will be granted at the completion of the workshop and exam.
