The Controlled-Environment Lighting Laboratory, or CELL, was developed by Dr. Erik Runkle. LEDs Magazine said that CELL was "arguably the most complex and capable such solid-state lighting system in the world." The lights found in - side are all LEDs and were developed in collaboration between the university and a multinational light - ing manufacturer head- quartered in Germany. The International Association of Lighting Designers is hosting "En - lighten Americas 2018," in Seattle, Wash., October 11 – 13. This event will present sessions in various tracks focusing on art, science and professional tools to explore the innovations and advancements in lighting design. Topics include observing the effects of red lighting, and discussing how lighting design can influence healthy communities.
