ECONOMIC NEWS Construction Jobs Up, In Some States 5/11 to 5/12 (seasonally adjusted): 19 states up, 30 down National construction employment is up 0.4% Construction employment increased in 19 states and D.C. from May 2011 to May 2012, but fell for 30 states, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. See their full report at econ/Construction- Materials_Outlook.pdf Note: The new June unemployment numbers for the U.S. construction industry fell 1.4% to 12.8%. As opposed to gaining more employment, analysts say the drop is largely due to workers leaving the industry, causing concern that as construction picks up steam, builders will face a shortage of skilled labor.
