Calhoun Community College
in Decatur, Ala., has taken steps
to provide green charging stations
outdoors for students. The solar
charging adjustable units are self-
contained power systems installed
with a few anchors into paved
walkways on campus. A carbon steel
or stainless steel pole supports a 60-watt polycrystalline solar panel, which is
adjustable for maximum sun exposure. Four USB ports and one 12-volt port
allow up to five devices charging at once.
