And the Winner Is . . .
Like the entertainment industry, spring is the awards
season in the landscape biz. Here is a peek at some of the
numerous honors that have been recently handed out.
The Professional Landcare Network granted its Lifetime
Leadership Award to Norman Goldenberg, Landscape
Industry Certifed, and past-president of PLANET, and the
Association Leadership Award to the Ohio Nursery and
Landscape Association.
The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute recognized
William (Bill) Schneider for his signifcant contributions to
the segmental concrete pavement industry, with the ICPI
Lifetime Achievement Award . A charter member of ICPI,
he was the frst to Chair the ICPI Construction Committee,
and developed content for the Concrete Paver Installer
Course and the Commercial Paver Technician Course.
The Golf Course Builders Association of America
announced Rees Jones as the recipient of the Don A.
Rossi Award , which honors individuals who have made
signifcant contributions to the game of golf. Jones is known
as "The Open Doctor" for his many renovations of U.S.
Open Championship courses.
The U.S. Green Building Council heralded the Top 10
States for LEED . Based on per capita square footage
of LEED certifed projects in 2013, Illinois topped the list
followed by Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, and New
York. Rounding out the top ten were California, Oregon,
North Carolina, Colorado, Hawaii, and Minnesota.
